I love using textures and layers in my illustration work and using a combination of Illustrator and Photoshop is a great way to achieve this. Here are two scenes, which I drew last Autumn; a rainforest and a jungle. I have recently added colour to them and layers of grainy brown paper. Using the multiply function on the layers in Photoshop allows the leaves and background foliage to have varying levels of opacity and vibrancy. It’s a great way to give simple 2D images a feeling of depth and makes them more tactile and handmade.
